When’s the last time you found yourself talking about money?
It’s hard to read the news, go online, or talk about small business without finances coming into play at some point.
And, guess what? Your past can hugely impact your future….if you let it.
I know because after years of reflection I can see how much my parents and grandparents influenced my views on money.
Growing up money was such a hot topic. My grandparents were entrepreneurs and made good money, but it came with costs.
My lessons learned
- Money comes with strings attached
- Always make more than you need
- Don’t talk about it.
This worked really well for me….well, until it didn’t. I never looked at my money, so I was blindsided when I realized that my partner at the time was regularly outspending us. Which ultimately lead me to one big, very painful bankruptcy.
Monday Mindfulness
What did your parents and grandparents teach you about money? How can you take the pieces of what they taught you that worked, and leave the pieces that are holding you back behind?
