This past week social media took me out and hindered my focus for work.
I saw this boy with a red MAGA hat and a smirk next to a Native American man beating the drum.
You along with over 2 million people might have watched this video too.
The visceral reaction I had was pretty intense, and it took me down a rabbit hole.
And apparently, I wasn’t alone since the video has been viewed more than 2.5 million times.
So, I spent a downward spiral trying to learn more about this video and ultimately I lost more than a few good hours of creative work time.
This is the challenge most face daily with social media. With it being so accessible, social media can be a positive tool in your business or a huge waste of your time.
According to Neilson.com American adults spend about 6 hours a day viewing video and over 11 hours per day listening to, watching, reading or generally interacting with media.
This can be good or bad for your business depending on your strategy.
Monday Mindfulness
I have two recommendations to ensure having social media is used in a
- Make a log and determine how much time you are wasting time or mindless surfing versus using your strategies to connect with your right potential clients.
- Try a tool like the FREEDOM App. This can help curb your auto response to jump onto social media without thinking about it first.
