This past week we celebrated our son’s tenth birthday.
As the boy inserted more and more sugar into his mouth the changes in both his energy and personality were noticable.
And, I’m not talking the happy go lucky kind of change.
It was like going from the classical to punk rock station. Not that there is anything wrong with punk, it’s just that there’s a time to get loud and chaotic, but this only works when there’s time for mellow as well.
As we watched the him change, I realize we’ve all been there.
We’ve all grabbed another cup of coffee, or had a sweet treat as a pick-me-up in the afternoon…just a little push to get more done. And, I’m guessing we all know what it feels like to overshoot the mark resulting in a blur of frenetic energy, dropped balls, and more intensity than the moment calls for.
So, what can we do about it?
Slow the F down!
Monday Mindfulness
This week, take a minimum of five minutes before you begin your work to ensure you’re imbibing your work with peace and groundedness. I would also recommend that you set a timer to take a few intentional breaks in the day rather than pushing through one more email.
